Are you on magazines.com mailing list? If so you’d better check your email! I received a $10 gift certificate from magazine.com for free in my inbox. At first I thought there must be a hitch (automatic renewal maybe?) so I put it off for a couple of days, afterall why would they give me a gift certificate when I’ve never even ordered from them! I gave in this evening and looked around the site and picked out a subscription to Family Fun magazine for $9.95. I decided I’d just not complete the order if I had to give any credit card information for it. Before I checked out I remembered that making a purchase through magazine.com can earn me rewards if I go through MyPoints.com so I closed my current page and opened it again in a new window going through MyPoints this time. Well am I ever glad that I did that! MyPoints is currently offering double rewards for each magazine subscription and also has $5 off certain magazine titles with a special member coupon code. Family Fun was one of those magazines that qualified for the coupon bringing my total down to $4.95. Magazine.com currently has a couple of magazines for $5 right now as a special offer so I added a subscription to Homemade Simple for$5 to my cart. I wasn’t sure if I’d be able to use both the coupon code and the gift certificate code in one order, but decided to give it a whirl. During check out I had the option to send the magazines to different places which was perfect because I only wanted the Family Fun (I already subscribe to Homemade Simple). I filled out Family Fun for myself and Homemade Simple for my Mom including a free gift message for them to send her. At the payment info page I added the coupon code and updated the total and then added the gift card and updated the total. At first I didn’t think it took them both and then I saw a button at the top of the page that said something like “apply $10 gift card to order” so I clicked on it. I was thrilled to see the spot for credit card information completely disappear after that! I was able to finish checking out without adding any payment info what-so-ever. A year of Homemade Simple costs $54 for a subscription if you pay full price. I got $63.95 in magazine subscriptions for free! This beats the $5 gift subscription to Sports Illustrated For Kids that I ordered from Amazon the other day by a long shot (although that’s a good deal too, they are also selling Homemade Simple for $5 right now if you have any $5 Amazon gift cards you’ve earned from Swagbucks hanging around)! I hope if you receive emails from magazines.com that you got one too (subject Your Black Friday $10 Gift Card is Enclosed. Happy Shopping!), and be sure to sign up with MyPoints if you haven’t already and order through them for the additional savings and points for gift cards! If you don’t receive the emails from magazines.com it’s not too late to sign up for future deals, as I understand it they do this occasionally, usually with $5 gift certificate codes.
